The Pancake and Christmas House Building
Years in the planning stages came to fruition only 8 short months from breaking ground on George and Bonnie Bertram’s new 11,000 square foot restaurant. The previous building in its entirety can fit in the kitchen of the new building!
Their vision had been meticulously executed by local craftsmen Bill Rice, Scott Keithley and John Clark who endured harsh winter elements in sub zero temperatures to complete.
It was a tight squeeze driving between the two buildings as the new restaurant was being built. Either structure, and sometimes both, were always at risk whenever anyone, especially a large truck attempted to maneuver the driveway to park or make a delivery.

The construction process was met with its fair share of obstacles, but it was nothing that a team effort and a lot of perseverance couldn’t overcome! A great job was done by all!
Life was just dandy in The Pancake and Christmas House until early 2007 when we had to face the fact that another expansion was necessary. The plan was to add on a new room off of the east end of the dining room to accommodate a rapidly growing Christmas House. The contents were sent off to storage while the Bertram’s underwent the (much too lengthy) process of drawing plans, securing building permits and active construction during McCall’s peak summer months. Again, they prevailed. In October of 2007, the new Christmas House reopened to great acclaim bringing the new building total square footage to 16,000.
Our building is truly a site to behold. The flowers are amazingly-beautiful in the summertime and the snow, coupled with thousands of Christmas lights in the winter, make it a spectacular site all year around!
